Day 1: Bumped 99 M6! Day 2: Bumped Cantabs Poachers! Day 3: Denied the bump on XPRess M3... Day 4: Technical row-over after carnage ahead

Day 1: #YellowFire burned bright as Clare alum of all ages roared off the start as City M9 and closed in on 99’s M6. Despite the skill and prowess of the TTP 9s crew, they cracked part way down first post reach and Clare claimed their first bump of the campaign.
Day 2 of the City of Clare bumps campaign saw a number of seat changes but the yellow fire continued to burn bright as the crew prepared to hunt down the Cantabs Poachers. With the starting gun the Poachers scrambled to get away, but by the motorway bridge they came off the boil while at the same time City of Clare continued to turn the temperature up. Whistles came and the sleek Janousek hull of Vera Frost inched closer to the Cantabs crew; a crew that were increasingly filled with a sense of their impending doom. The bump came at the start of First Post Corner; willow was gathered and the crew rowed home ready to take on XPress 3.
Day 3: Cruel cruel fate…. City of Clare this time with a distinguished lineup (two CBC trustees on board) paddled down to the start with some of the neatest rowing so far. A tidy practice start in Plough Reach confirmed that we were on for smashing XPress. On the gun, we set off and soon gained one whistle. But here fate decided we were having too much success and another alum crew (that shall remain nameless) failed to clear the river after bumping. XPress then hurtled into the bank. As we passed XPress, their cox acknowledged the bump but lacking the satisfaction of true impact the crew paddled on. Despite having a CCRC bumps secretary and umpire consider the event it was decided that XPress had been obstructed and were given a row over. Tomorrow is payback time….
Day 4: After the events of the day before we were ready for justice on the final day of bumps. Having brought into two lads from Goldie we'd swapped out the neatness of yesterday's paddle for sheer watts. We set off behind XPress M3 again and quickly gained our first whistle. However, up ahead carnage was commencing as the third crew in the division failed to clear the river on being bumped. All 14 crews behind were brought to a standstill and awarded technical row overs, with XPress once again escaping their otherwise inevitable fate.
